Iran fires missiles, drones across Gulf, region remains in war crosshairs
Iran has fired missiles and drones at several Gulf Arab nations, which have sought to intercept them, in a now-daily fallout from the United States-Israel war launched on Iran nearly three weeks ago that has engulfed the Middle East with deaths, destruction, assassinations, and an energy crisis spreading far beyond the region. Early Tuesday, Qatar's Ministry of Defence said its armed forces intercepted a missile attack against the country. The statement came hours after the Kuwaiti army said it was intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks. The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have also reported intercepting missiles and drones in recent hours. Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense reported the interception and destruction of a drone in the Eastern Region.

British parts found in Russian drones, Zelensky says
British microcomputers were among more than 100,000 foreign-made parts contained in Russian missiles and drones used in Sunday's deadly strikes on Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has said. The Ukrainian president called for further effective sanctions after saying parts originating in allied countries including Germany, Japan and the US have been identified in Russian weapons. The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) said it had recently undertaken efforts to crack down on UK firms whose products have continued to make their way into Russia's military supply chain. We take reports of goods from UK companies being found in Russian weaponry incredibly seriously, a government spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the government had banned the export of thousands of goods to Russia including every battlefield item Ukraine has brought to our attention, adding that they have imposed the most the most severe package of sanctions. What are the sanctions on Russia and are they working?

Houthis launch missile, drone attacks on US warships off Yemen's coast
US warships came under sustained missile and drone attack from Houthi fighters as they sailed off the coast of Yemen, the Pentagon has confirmed, with the armed group claiming it attacked the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and two US destroyers. Pentagon spokesperson Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder said on Tuesday that the United States military's Central Command (CENTCOM) forces "successfully repelled multiple Iranian backed Houthi attacks during a transit of the Bab al-Mandeb strait", which connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. Ryder told reporters at a news conference that two US-guided missile destroyers – the USS Stockdale and USS Spruance – were attacked by at least eight one-way attack drones, five antiship ballistic missiles and three antiship cruise missiles. All the Houthi drones and missiles "were successfully engaged and defeated", and neither of the US Navy ships were damaged or personnel hurt, he said. Ryder added that he was not aware of any attacks against the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.

'Putin is vindictive': Russia pounds Ukraine as Kyiv pursues Kursk assault
Kyiv, Ukraine – Russia's aerial attack on Ukraine was colossal. Moving in waves from several directions and at different speeds and heights, 127 missiles and 109 drones attacked 15 of Ukraine's 24 regions. The attack is being seen in Ukraine as Russian President Vladimir Putin's revenge for Kyiv's daring incursion into the western Russian region of Kursk that began in early August and has resulted in the apparent takeover of more than 1,000sq kilometres (386sq miles). "He is a vindictive person, he got offended," General Lieutenant Ihor Romanenko, ex-deputy head of the General Staff of Ukraine's Armed Forces, told Al Jazeera. The attack began in predawn darkness on Monday as buzzing swarms of explosives-laden heavy drones took off from the Azov Sea town of Yeisk in southwestern Russia.

Russia launches another wave of missiles and drones at Ukraine
Russia has launched waves of missile and drone attacks targeting several Ukrainian regions killing at least four people, according to Ukraine's military, a day after it carried out a "massive" attack on Ukraine's power grid. Two people were killed when a hotel was "wiped out" in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih, regional officials said on Tuesday. Two more people died in drone attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia, east of Kryvyi Rih. The Kyiv region's air defence systems were deployed several times overnight to repel missiles and drones targeting Kyiv, the regional military administration said on the Telegram messaging app. Ukrainian air defences shot down about 15 drones and several missiles near the Ukrainian capital during Russia's overnight attack, Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv's military administration, said on Tuesday morning.

Hamas backs Iran after retaliatory missile, drone attacks on Israel
The Palestinian Hamas group has expressed support for Iran after it launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel in retaliation for a deadly assault on its consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus. In a statement on Saturday, Hamas, which governs the Palestinian enclave of Gaza, said it affirmed "the natural right" of countries and peoples in the Middle East to defend themselves "in the face of Zionist aggressions". "The military operation carried out by Iran against the Zionist entity is a natural right and a due response to the crime of targeting the consulate in Damascus," it said. The Iranian salvo, fired late on Saturday night, consisted of more than 300 cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones, according to the Israeli military. Some 99 percent of the projectiles were intercepted, an Israeli spokesman said, with help from France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Iran warns US to 'stay away' as America shoots down drone launched at Israel
Iraqi media broadcast video that reportedly shows Iranian missiles passing through the country. Iran's mission to the United Nations argued that the country's missiles and drones fired toward Israel were justified, warning the U.S. to "stay away." "It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!," Iran's mission to the United Nations said in a statement. Iran's warning came as U.S. officials confirmed to Fox News that the U.S. military is continuing to shoot down Iranian drones that are headed toward Israel. "U.S. forces in the region continue to shoot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel. Our forces remain postured to provide additional defensive support and to protect U.S. forces operating in the region," a U.S. military official said.

Russia plans drone air campaign to "exhaust" Ukraine: Zelenskyy
Russia is planning a protracted campaign of aerial bombardments and attacks using Iranian-made drones in a bid to "exhaust" Ukraine into submission, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In his nightly address to the nation on Monday, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had received intelligence that Russia would increase its campaign of drone raids on the country. "We have information that Russia is planning a long-term attack using Shahed drones," Zelenskyy said. "It is probably banking on exhaustion. Exhausting our people, our anti-aircraft defences, our energy," he said.

Analysis: What's behind Iran's alleged drone deal with Russia?
Russia's recent missile and drone strikes on Ukraine have highlighted three war developments. Firstly, Iran appears to be playing a significant role in arming Russia. And finally, this new level of intensity means Ukraine is going to need help from the West if this new influx of missiles is to be stopped. In recent weeks, despite Iranian and Russian denials, images of the Shahed-136 drones, their distinctive delta wings silhouetted against the sky, have circulated around the global media. In Kyiv, tower block residents watched in horror as the drones flew below their windows, the lawnmower-like whine of their engines clearly heard, as they purposefully made their way to intended targets.
